Free Video Readings!

Free buttonIf you follow my page on Facebook, you’ll know that I’ve recently been looking into other formats and venues for my tarot readings. One of the things I’ve been experimenting with is video. I’ve done some tests with my phone, Skype, a special holder on an arm and a lap desk. The idea is that hopefully I’ll be able to do live readings via Skype, while being able to show the cards and point to elements in the cards on video. I may also consider adding recorded video readings.

For a limited time only, while I’m ironing out the wrinkles, anyone ordering a reading directly from my website (this offer does not include readings offered via Fiverr.com) will receive a recorded video version of their reading as a free bonus, in addition to the regular PDF text file with photo that I usually send.

I would love to hear your feedback about the video readings if you get one. I’d also like to know whether you’d be interested in live readings via Skype if I offer them in the future. Finally, if you have any ideas of services you’d like me to offer, please do get in touch. Simply comment on this post or use my contact form.

Get a Free Tarot Card Reading Right Now Courtesy of Fiverr and AppSumo!

As you may know, I started offering my tarot reading services on Fiverr.com. I normally encourage people to order from me directly now, because I get more of a cut of the price. But I do still offer my services on Fiverr. Deal site AppSumo is offering a free “gig” (the Fiverr terminology for a job) for new Fiverr accounts only (and while stocks last). You know what that means? You can get a free reading from me – and I’ll still get paid! That’s a great opportunity for anyone who has been nervous about pulling the trigger on a reading. Here’s a link:

What To Expect When You’re Expecting… a Tarot Reading!

As some of you of you know, I really enjoy receiving feedback from my clients when I’ve done readings for them. I consider myself to always be learning, and getting comments is a big part of the learning process for me. Every so often, I get some feedback that reassures me that I’m on the right track, not just with what I’ve said in my reading, but with the way I present my readings too. I got such a message recently from Samantha Popp, one of the winners of a free reading I announced recently, praising me for my “professional” approach, and it reminded me that I should talk a little here about what you actually get when you come to me for a tarot reading.

Document FolderI e-mail you a PDF document (so it’s readable and printable, regardless of platform and software you use) with your name, the date of the reading, your question and the cards I drew. Then there’s a photo of the actual layout of cards in your reading, so you can follow along with what comes next. I describe each card individually, drawing attention to the parts of the card that are relevant to the question. Then I summarize the entire layout and what it means in the context of your question.

My ultimate goal is always to show you exactly what I see in the cards; I think it’s more meaningful for you that way. I also hope that you’ll hold on to this document and refer to it now and in the future.

How You Can Win a FREE Tarot Reading!

FreeAs some of you might know, I put out a monthly newsletter via email. In addition to highlighting some of my recent “Musings” posts (and revisiting some posts from my archives), I also share some great articles, etc., I find around the web. It’s not always tarot-related, but it’s always something I think my audience will enjoy or find useful. You can see some examples on my Newsletter Archive page.

I’d really like you to subscribe to the newsletter if you haven’t done so already. As an incentive, I’ve decided to choose one lucky new subscriber at random at 8 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday, April 13, to receive a FREE tarot card reading. In addition, as a thank you to those of you who have been subscribed all along, I’ll also choose one of you at random to receive a free reading!

I’ll announce the winners in the next issue of the newsletter, which will also come out on Monday, April 13. Good luck!

More Music For Tarot Readings

You may remember my post to this blog, Music To Read Tarot By, recommending some sources of ambient/new age music for use when reading tarot, meditating, etc. This is an update of that post, since I’ve discovered a couple more excellent sources.

As I mentioned on the earlier post, I like to have background music playing when I read tarot. It helps me focus and keep odd external noises from distracting me. I prefer to have fairly neutral music playing, since I worry that anything too emotional might “color” the reading too much. I also prefer music without a beat for this purpose. Recently, I’ve also been playing these stations when napping and sleeping.

Ambient Sleeping PillAmbient Sleeping Pill Logo bills itself as “Internet Radio pouring out uninterrupted music for sleeping, taking Naps and other more wakeful tranquil moments” and that’s a very fair description. It streams 24/7 with “No ads, no beats, no new-age-cheese.” Most of the music it plays is free for downloading also, although one of the ways the station has been funding itself is by selling CD and downloadable compilations of some of the best music it plays. I applaud this station for keeping the ads out of the stream; there’s nothing more jarring than an upbeat advertisement when you’re in the moment!

Drone Zone LogoDrone Zone is a streaming station from the SomaFM family of Internet radio stations; in fact, it was the first SomaFM station. It bills itself as, “Served best chilled, safe with most medications. Atmospheric textures with minimal beats.” It goes on to say, “Droning atmospheric space music and ambient textures with minimal beats. Music on Drone Zone is all about sonic textures and environments.” You’re likely to hear music by such artists as Steve Roach, Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Robert Davies, etc. The music is scheduled and programmed by Rusty Hodge, the founder of SomaFM and the General Manager and Music Director. SomaFM is listener-supported, mostly by donations. There are occasional channel IDs, but they’re in keeping with the sound of the station, and not intrusive.

tunein logoBoth of these stations can be listened to directly by going to the websites linked to above, or by using an application like TuneIn. TuneIn’s mobile apps have a sleep timer, which turns a channel off after a given time period, which is handy! SomaFM also has its own app. available.

I’ll make the same request that I did at the end of my previous post about music; do you know of any other sources of this kind of music? If so, please do share in a comment below.

UPDATE: Somebody on Facebook saw this post and commented, including a link to another resource that’s too good not to share here: Ambient Chillout Music Mixes by JaBig. It’s a collection of music by Brian Eno.

A Bit of Decorating, and A Forthcoming Freebie

I wanted to give the site a little personal touch, so, prompted by the WordPress “Zero to Hero” series, I created the header image you’ll see at the top of each page. Simple and straightforward, in keeping with my tarot philosophy, the background is adapted from the pattern on the back of my tarot deck of choice, the Jean Noblet Tarot de Marseille. Let me know what you think in the comments section.

I’m starting to write a little e-book that I’m planning to offer for free in exchange for signing up for my e-mail newsletter. It’s designed to simply show how tarot can be an powerful tool to change your life for the better and to help you get the most out of a tarot reading. In addition to offering it to new subscribers, I will share it with those who are already on the e-mail list, as my way of saying thank you for being my list pioneers.
